The Goldfinch Room Warm and bright, with three windows, two of which let in the evening sun, the Goldfinch is on the ground floor, with a view of trees and evergreens. The bed, a beautiful mahogany four-poster family heirloom is a traditional full, but sleeps two people comfortably. A secretary of the same vintage invites you to pick up a pen, but it will tolerate your laptop, too. The room also has a huge walk in closet and an en-suite bathroom with a tub shower. It features art from three centuries and houses part of our personal book collection. Once you close the door behind you, we can assure you, relaxation will begin. |
... and its relative The American Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis) is a gregarious, social bird which gathers in large flocks while feeding and migrating. Its breeding season is tied to the peak of food supply, beginning in late July. This species is generally monogamous, and produces one brood each year. It undergoes a complete molt, especially visible in the male which turns a vibrant yellow in the summer and a drab, olive color during the winter months. At Le Vatout, goldfinches cluster around the feeders year round.
