The Robin Room The Robin is on the second floor, perching high up under the eaves. It is a writer's dream. Cool and cozy, it is the most private of our rooms and its north-side window makes you feel as if you sit among feathery hemlocks. To check for availability or to make a reservation click here. ... and its relative The American Robin (Turdus migratorius) is a migratory songbird of the thrush family. The sexes are similar, but the female tends to be a little duller than the male. It is among the first birds to sing at dawn, and one of the earliest bird species to lay eggs, soon after returning from its winter range. Its nest consists of long coarse grass, twigs, paper, and feathers, smeared with mud and cushioned with soft materials. At Le Vatout, favorite nesting sites are in the old cedars in back and in the climbing hydrangea that clings to the garage.
