Pastel Workshop with Pam Cabanas - Itinerary

Sunday, 7/12: Between 4pm and 6pm you and your fellow workshoppers arrive and check in. After settling into your room, join us at 7pm for a meet-and-greet during an informal dinner at Le Vatout. Afterwards, feel free to hang out in the kitchen with your new friends, enjoy the breeze from the river in the garden or take a stroll to the village, just five minutes away. The Narrows Tavern, which features live music most nights during the summer, is a fun place to have a beer and get to know the locals.

Monday, 7/13 and Tuesday, 7/14: Breakfast is served between 8 and 9am. At 9am Pam Cabanas comes to Le Vatout to fetch you for a full day of plein air painting fun. Pam usually starts with a discussion of approach to this elusive medium, held in her own studio in the idyllic fishing village of Friendship. Then out to the field for a long day at the easel! A scrumptious box lunch provided by Le Vatout will keep you going. Finally, around 3pm, it's time for critique. Afterwards, you may wish to return to Le Vatout to explore the village or to rest in our romantic garden with a cup of tea. But if the light is good and the mood is creative, paint on... and Pam will stay right with you. After all that, you'll need a solid dinner! We suggest Narrows Tavern, Moody’s Diner, a Midcoast landmark up on Rt.1 or Bullwinkles a little further down Rt.1 for solid, unpretentiously good food. But we'll also be happy to recommend one of the many fine restaurants in neighboring Damariscotta or Rockland.

Wednesday, 7/15: As on the previous days, breakfast will be between 8 and 9am, followed by another full day of instruction and plein air painting, but today try to be back home by 7pm for a fabulous farewell dinner served at Le Vatout.

Thursday, 7/16: Breakfast is served between 8 and 9am. After breakfast take a last stroll through the garden and say good-bye to your new friends. Check-out is by 11am, but don’t be sad: you will take home new skills, plenty of memories and the beautiful pictures you painted on Midcoast Maine.

If you need more information or if you would like to make a reservation for the workshop, please email or call Le Vatout at (207) 832-5150
